Quoting William Chislett, anyone who had predicted 15 years ago that Spanish companies today would own, in the UK, the largest mobile telephone company (O2) or an important power company (ScottishPower); or would operate several lines of the London underground and some of the country’s largest airports including Heathrow, the airport with the most traffic in the world; or would control 12% of the British banking system; or that a third of the world's air traffic would be managed through systems developed and installed by a Spanish company; or that a Spanish company would be the world's largest in the fashion sector, with more than 5,500 stores in all five continents... we would have laughed at him. But this is a reality of which we must be aware, and about which we must be able to tell the world.
